Been trying to get back to 2D, I don't have much time these days because of work and I don't feel like working at my computer at home, too tired:|

Anyway I was fooling around in PS until I "saw" something, and this is the result. It's fun to have no idea what the heck you're doing until suddenly a clear image is visible in your head and you just go with it, I feel more free.

Been a while since I bothered to finish anything, let's hope I don't go on another hiatus!

More to come, thanks for looking buds!
This was a good challenge for me, I had this image in my mind months ago but only started working on it last week and wasn't sure I would finish it. I'll have to be careful with the sharpen next time!

Enjoy!

I made some changes to (I think I finished the original in September 2006). I basically added some new trees which were first modeled roughly and then rendered. I composited them in my previous image, painted over them, and remade the ambiance of the scene by adjusting colors by hand (painting over shadows, etc.). This was done for my submission for Exposé 5. Maybe it will make it into the book? And yes I noticed one of the stars is over the moon, and a bit of one of the palm trees is going over the flags. I noticed too late

Took around an hour and a half. Very "brushy" as you can see, but it's fun not to bother with precision once in a while, just focus on the mood, the feeling the image expresses.

Made in black and white first, then colored. I really liked the black and white image too but I decided to upload only the color one. I eyeballed the perspective, so it's far from perfect.

Enjoy!

I did this rather quickly, and rushed it as it was getting late (woke up late the next day too!). I'm leaving it as that. On to the next piece!

Hi all! This is my first submission to the Finished Work section of the site. It was a modeling, texturing, and more specifically lighting exercise for school made. Vertex paint was used to blend the textures and break the tiling effect so I never had to paint on a UV map. Textures were made by combining images in Photoshop. The scene was rendered using Max's default scanline renderer (with light tracer) at double the resolution, no anti-aliasing, then scaled down. The lighting is a directional light and a few bounce lights using area shadows as well as a subtle glow lens effect around the door for the daylight scene. You can view the original reference photo on my website.
I modeled and textured in a hurry due to other school assignments, but the main idea was to light this scene properly, hopefully I managed to do it right. It is what took the most time, and I would have liked to work more on it but school is closed for the vacations.
Crits appreciated, especially about the lighting. Thank you for viewing the artwork!

This image was a school assignment when I was a student at the Ubisoft Campus. Our teacher was Raphael Lacoste and he provided us with a black and white photo he had taken (which can be found on his website) for us to remodel and lit (it was mainly a lighting class).

I like how it turned out, it was easy to do and I only used box UV mapping, no need to unwrap anything in particular. Learned a lot!
